BACKGROUND
The Community Challenge provides the capacity and structure to sustain long-term community engagement.  It supports residents in creating a vision around public issues identified as a priority in their communities.  In the past, community participants involved in Work Groups worked together with key stakeholders to address issues and accomplish goals in areas related to Economic Development, Education, Visual Change and the Downtown Flint Area.

Presently, Community Challenge has an infrastructure of four core partners working together in the spirit of true collaboration. These institutions are dedicated to:

• Encouraging and supporting Genesee County residents’ efforts to have catalytic conversations in their community
• Supporting Genesee County residents’ efforts to network with others across the county who are doing the work of community engagement
• Providing Genesee County residents with training for community engagement and community action

Everything that happens under the Community Challenge banner involves sharing information that leads to action and results, which make Genesee County a better place for each of us.
