PARENTS & CAREGIVERS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN NEW INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR YOUTH AGES 10 TO 15 IN GENESEE COUNTY
FLINT, MI – Genesee County parents, caregivers and other residents who would like to help create a better, brighter future for children in their community between the ages of 10 and 15 are invited to attend The Critical Years: 10 to 15, a Community Challenge Town Hall meeting, on Thursday, April 10, 2008, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Genesys Conference Center, 805 Health Park Blvd. (I-75 and Holly Road), Grand Blanc. A light dinner will be provided. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Visit www.thecommunitychallenge.org or call (810) 767-0500.
Studies show that children between ages 10 and 15 are at a critical point in their lives and this window of time in their growth and development is widely considered a ‘last chance’ to positively impact their future. Participants from various community sectors, including business, education, health, government, faith-based, non-profits and more, will explore key issues affecting 10 to 15 year olds, discuss local programs and services currently available to support them, identify areas where additions or improvements are needed, and offer input as organizers develop a ‘Critical Years Community Pledge’ that will frame efforts moving forward.
The Critical Years: 10 to 15 Town Hall meeting is supported by Mott Community College, Priority Children, United Way of Genesee County Bridges to the Future program, and the Community Challenge initiative’s four core partners: University of Michigan – Flint, Community Foundation of Greater Flint, the Resource Center and The Flint Club.
