Community Members and Students get serious about making a Positive Change

On Thursday, November 30, 2006 from Noon to 8 p.m. at the Northbank Center on the campus of the University of Michigan-Flint, the American Democracy Project at the Univeristy of Michigan-Flint will join Community Challenge to present TOOLS FOR POSITIVE CHANGE: A CIVIC ENGAGEMENT FAIR.  The focus of the conference celebrates efforts that have been underway by both the community and the university for nearly 2 years and provides opportunities for community members and students to refine their civic skills and build networks for positive change.

Community members and students are encouraged to register online at www.thecommunitychallenge.org. Online registration is open until 5:00 p.m. November 22, 2006. Limited registration will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis until the event by calling 810.233.5468 ext.1.

From the Center for Democracy and Citizenship, Hubert H. Humprey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota keynote speaker Dennis Donovan will present to the audience. Mr. Donovan is the National organizer for Public Achievement at the University of Minnesota.

The American Democracy Project (ADP) is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and University Outreach at the Univeristy of Michigan Flint.  The project is part of a national movement of over 400 college campuses nationwide. The work of the American Democracy Project is to include civic engagement into college curriculum, co-

Funding for the ADP project on the UM-Flint campus is provided in great part by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.  Funding for Community Challenge is provided by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Ruth Mott Foundation, and Community Foundation of Greater Flint. Community Challenge consists of four core partners, Community Foundation of Greater Flint, Resource Center, University of Michigan-Flint University Outreach, and Flint Club.
