Southern Genesee County
Community Action Planning Session
What makes your community unique? What types of activities do you need to have available for youth in your area? How do we preserve the character or identity of the community we live in?
These are just a few questions that Community Challenge has been asking residents that stay in Southern Genesee County Area. Southern Genesee County also known to many as the Southern Lakes region is comprised of: Argentine, Mundy, Lake Fenton and Fenton townships and the cities of Linden, Fenton, and Swartz Creek.
Community Challenge has been working with the University of Michigan-Flint’s CAER office to introduce a video that involves interviews of several residents.
After the residents saw the video and the photographs taken by area students they engaged in exploratory conversations. We have been gathering information on how to engage commuters, activities that are needed in the area and what sort of beautification projects are needed to enhance this community.
Community Challenge is working on finding the links between the cities and townships in the region. In addition, we are discovering areas of focus that are identified by the residents. This is only the beginning. Please stay tuned in 2008 as we continue the work that has just begun.
