Summer 2007 Civic Engagement Training Series

The Community Challenge, an initiative dedicated to building a better community by demonstrating the power of citizen involvement and developing new patterns of collaborative leadership, envisions a Genesee County where:

citizens – from youth to older adults – regularly organize to bring about the change they desire;
leaders value and incorporate civic engagement as a regular component to key decision making processes related to public agenda issues; and
area non-profits have the capacity to provide a sustainable civic engagement infrastructure to support ongoing civic engagement.

We believe in building the capacity of the community to develop solutions to its most significant challenges. To this end, the Community Challenge invites you to attend its 2007 Summer Civic Engagement Training Series.

The purpose of this training series is to expose local residents to nationally recognized civic engagement tools that have made a positive difference in other communities. Our goal is to train local facilitators who will then use their newly acquired skills to promote constructive change here in our community. People who attend one or more of these workshops can expect to acquire skills that will allow them to facilitate group discussions about important community issues and then move the groups to take action to address these issues.

All sessions are free and open to the public.
Upon completion of all four sessions you will receive a certification from Community Challenge.

Each topic has a morning and evening session.
Please select your topic and indicate which session you will be attending.

Session I is from 9:30am to 1:00pm and Session II is from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
